I did this piece in 1958 when I was first exploring the wondrous drawing possibilities of intaglio printmaking. The drawing tool here is the burin and I was recording my senses, pushing the sharp steel point through the softer metal, turning the plate to follow the cutting point. The bright copper beneath my hand gave me mirror glimpses of my concentration.
